Beautifying Your New Home While Sticking To A Budget
December 29th, 2009
If you have bought a new home and are planning on moving in soon then read on. After spending your hard earned money on buying the perfect house, decorating it can be expensive especially when on a tight budget. Putting your own style and decor would be pleasing and less expensive rather than hiring a professional to design your house.
Decorating is about implementing your style and taste. By choosing things that you like, decorating becomes a breeze. Decorating as a family makes it even more enjoyable.
The dimensions of each room like the living room, bedroom, the kitchen, etc. have to be measured along with their window space. Once that is in order, the next thing on the agenda would be to wall paper or paint the house. If it is newly constructed you should not have this problem but if you are the second owner then you might want to do it. Lighting is also important at this point. Only selected old furniture that is presentable and useful to you should be brought in, otherwise it would be better to discard it before entering the new home.
The living room’s must-have is the sofa set. A brand new one is better but using your old sofa will do too granted that it goes well with the rest of the room. Decide if you will make it into a formal receiving area or a casual family room with a television set and sound system. Curtains look best whether in a formal or informal living room. Add some accents of flowers, potted plants and wall hangings.
The bedroom’s focal point is the bed. You have a good bed and you’re all set. Decorating with personal items will make the bedroom more of your private space. You can choose your window treatments. Some prefer blinds from curtains for a more modern look. Beddings suitable to the bedroom’s color is a must to make the room look more coordinated.
The Children’s Bedroom: It should be bright and airy with lovely, pleasing to the eye wallpaper and matching curtains. Of course, if your children are small, a bunk bed to one side would be advisable, leaving enough space for them to play with their toys. A study table should be available for their use as well.
The dining room may be about the dining table set but it can look so much more than that with drapes to soften the room, some artworks on the wall, a nice centerpiece on the dining table, good lighting fixture and a display of china collection you have. You may choose to allot the dining room as a formal eating area for entertaining guests or have it incorporated in the kitchen as your family’s dining space.
The kitchen can be made into a cozy and welcoming room despite its very practical purpose as a cooking space. A lively wall color, window treatment, kitchen utensils and personalized items can make the kitchen look more of a family room too.
Finishing these main areas will make decorating the other rooms easier. The bathrooms, patio, entryway and hallways, basement and backyard should also be given attention so that you will have a house that looks pleasing in every corner.
